Volunteer Opportunities
Summit Service Dogs is grateful for volunteers in Edmonton, Calgary and Medicine Hat, Alberta. A volunteer will get the chance to be a part of a community of people working towards greater accessibility, safety and inclusion to those that need it.
Some opportunities may include:
- Puppy Raisers foster a puppy or dog in training in their home. They attend weekly training sessions to learn how to help support, socialize and teach initial skill development. The raisers help expose the pups to unfamiliar environments that they will encounter as service dogs. Supplies, food and vet care is provided. Puppy raisers can have a dog in their home anywhere from 2 months to 1.5 years depending on what works best for them. The dogs age can range from 8 weeks to 16 months old.
- Puppy Sitting provides short term care to a service pup in training. They offer a safe home environment and care for their day to day needs and well-being. This is a great option for families that want to help but are not ready to make a long term commitment. This can range anywhere from overnight, weekends or a period of weeks. Supplies, food and vet care is provided.
- We are grateful for any length of time raisers can offer a home, love and support to our dogs in training.
- Opportunities outside of dog care include: fundraising support, photography, video creation, special events.
